For Understanding the Concepts of Substitution and Imputation.

Visual Pictures of the Biblical concepts of Substitution and Imputation.

Here is a basic way to visualize what actually happens when you ask Jesus to take your sins. The requirement for Jesus taking them is that you repent and confess them to The Lord God

Please know that what God teaches in the Bible is reality. The Biblical action takes place in the spiritual realm that lasts for all eternity. It's effects are also in the physical realm, of course.

Here Goes>>

***    Take your hand and look at it well. Notice that it is natural flesh colored.

***   Now read God’s Word aloud to yourself and listen to the words carefully and prayerfully.

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."  "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips." "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness." "Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know." "There is no fear of God before their eyes." Romans 3:10-18, Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Eccles. 7:20, Psalm 5:9, Psalm 140:3, Psalm 10:7, Isaiah 59:7,8, Psalm 36:1

The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23

God has just said in these verses that no one is without offense to God. No one is without sin against God. Not you, not me.

***    Now picture your hand with a Black glove on it. The black color represents your sin that God sees within your heart. Imagine that just appeared there, for it had always been there, but you just couldn’t see it. God, who sees your heart had always seen the black sin there. Look at your hand and imagine a solid Black glove on it.

***   Now picture a Red glove. It represents the Blood of Jesus Christ. It is the substitute death-penalty, blood shed sacrifice, and the punishment due to anyone who has offended or sinned against the holy God.

The Red Blood of Christ is the substitute Blood Atonement or "payback" that God demands from everyone who has offended Him by breaking His Rules.

Imagine that you are deliberately putting on this Red Blood glove on top of your black-sin gloved hand. (Yes, now you are “wearing” two gloves.) You have just accepted and imputed onto your sinful heart, hand and being the pure and sinless Blood of Jesus the Christ

By putting the Red glove on your black sin glove, you are accepting Jesus’ substitution death for all of your sins. This Red glove represents Jesus washing away all of your sins.

***   Now read God’s Word aloud to yourself and listen to the words carefully and prayerfully.

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18

Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51

To Him Who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, rev 1

This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 1 John 5:6

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:13

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, Hebrews 10:19

but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption… the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9:12,14,15

***    Now picture the holy God putting on your hand a new Bright White glove, thoroughly clean, spotless glove. The other two gloves totally disappear and do not existing any more. Your sin is completely gone. The White glove fits you perfectly!

***   Now read God’s Word aloud to yourself and listen to the words carefully and prayerfully.

"I, even I, am He Who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25

as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 11:19    I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26

"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Jeremiah 31:33

***    This shiny uncontaminated white glove represents the righteousness of Christ Jesus. The Lord God Almighty Himself has placed this white glove onto your now sin-washed heart, hand and being. By doing this, the Lord God Almighty has imputed to you His Son Jesus Christ's righteousness. Now the Lord God Almighty sees you only with the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

***   Now read God’s Word aloud to yourself and listen to the words carefully and prayerfully.

I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe Romans 3:22

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:4

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, Who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:27-31

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 1 pet 3:18

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:15, Luke 9:29

But My salvation will last forever, My righteousness will never fail. Isaiah 51:6
